The History of Supply New England

Supply New England is one of the five largest HVAC supply companies in New England. We do some things a bit differently than a few years ago, like utilizing the latest efficiency-enhancing technologies in our offices and warehouses. But one thing has and always will remain the same: the way we treat our customers. No matter which of our 19 locations you walk into, you can expect attentive service, dependable expertise, and the kind of commitment only a family-owned business can deliver. We look forward to getting to know you and meeting your supply needs for many years to come.

R.B. Corcoran Co., Inc.

1983 - 1993

The R.B. Corcoran Company was incorporated in 1947 by Robert Corcoran, as an offshoot of Corcoran Supply of Brockton and Fall River, MA (later purchased by The Reardon Companies, Inc.). R.B. Corcoran had the distinction of being the first plumbing and heating supply house on Cape Cod and opened several more branches by 1981.

R.B. Corcoran opened branches on the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket – the first supply house to locate off the mainland.

1983 - R.B. Corcoran Co., Inc.

R.B. Corcoran Co. created the Kitchen and Bath Gallery division run by Carolyn Corcoran. Kitchen displays were eventually added to the showrooms in several other locations before the merger with The Reardon Companies in 2000. David Corcoran, Robert’s son and co-owner of the family business, successfully ran R.B. Corcoran’s daily operations as General Manager since coming on board in 1973.

1993 - Reardon Supply

The Reardon Companies, Inc.

1945 - Today

Two employees of Corcoran Supply of Brockton, Massachusetts formed a relationship. Together, Walter Reardon and Howard Lynch purchased A.J. Laliberte Supply Co. in Attleboro. The two new owners continued the business under the same name until 1946.

Walter Reardon & Howard Lynch

At the close of WWII, Walter Reardon and Howard Lynch founded the Reardon & Lynch Company in Attleboro.

The company had become a major player in the Attleboro-Brockton trading locale.

Lynch retired, selling his interest in the company to Walter’s son, John.

1966 - John Reardon

Reardon acquired The Allen & Reed Company, an established Providence, Rhode Island supplier of industrial pipe, valves, and fittings.

1978 - Allen + Reed Co

The acquisition of Thornley Supply Company expanded the company’s territory to include Pawtucket and Peacedale. Ten years later, Reardon purchased the plumbing and heating inventory and warehouse of JT O’Connell Company, a building materials supplier in Rhode Island’s Newport area.

John’s sons, Jason and Jamie, assisted in negotiating the purchase of Corcoran Supply of Fall River. The Reardon Companies’ final acquisition prior to merging with R.B. Corcoran Co. was that of Dalton & Ingersoll Company, the oldest plumbing and heating supply house in the country. With the addition of this company’s two sites, Reardon Companies further increased its market presence across MA and RI.

1994 - Reardon Supply - Merger

In January 2000

The Reardon Companies, Inc. and R.B. Corcoran Co. merged to create Supply New England, the largest heating and plumbing supply company in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

In an ironic twist, Reardon-a third-generation family distribution business-and Corcoran-a second-generation family business-were both founded 55 years ago as offshoots of the original Corcoran Supply Company of Brockton. The merging of these two entities allowed for a natural expansion of each territory, featuring the best of each company’s products, services, and systems.

More importantly, the merger enabled Supply New England to cover a larger area, serve an expanded customer base, and better compete with other large regional wholesale distributors and even national chains such as Home Depot. Along with increased purchasing power and other financial efficiencies, these synergies helped to redefine our company as a formidable player in the marketplace.

Supply New England has remained a unique customer service-oriented wholesale supplier in New England.

The major focus has been in the plumbing, heating and HVAC industries maintaining a high standard for customers with a heavy emphasis on customer support. Accomplished by providing the right training before the sale along with technical assistance after the sale. The showrooms in the 6 Kitchen and Bath Galleries and 3 Kohler Signature Stores have reached a quality level unmatched in our market in the categories of plumbing, tile and cabinetry.

Supply New England currently has 19 total locations spread across New England: 14 blended branches, 4 stand-alone showrooms and one distribution center.
